Mark Levin to Ron Paul: Hitler would have wanted nukes too

To be clear, while I am a conservative, I have great sympathy for many libertarian ideas. I think that so long as your activity has no effect on anyone else, the government should not have the right to go snooping in your house or bedroom. I decry the criminalization of American society, where in fact nearly all Americans have been made criminals by over-broad, vague, and poorly written laws, but do not know they are criminals yet. I am in favor of restoring the 4th Amendment to its original intention, and requiring the highest level of care and scrutiny before a person or his property is searched or seized. Finally, I believe that federal, state, and local governments should be cut to the bone across the board except for what services are absolutely necessary to preserve the peace and well-being of their citizens, that more than a handful of federal agencies should simply be abolished, and that every law and regulation issued by the federal government should be examined and jettisoned if it cannot meet basic constitutional requirements based upon the strictest possible reading of the Commerce Clause and the 10th Amendment.

Having said this, I lost whatever patience I might have had for Ron Paul after watching his performance at the debate the other night. The man is naive and simplistic to the point of lunacy.

I would say more, but Mark Levin says whatever I would say better:

(H/t Right Scoop)

I realize that some of my readers are Ron Paul supporters, but we have to face the facts: While there is a great affinity between conservative and libertarian ideas, Ron Paul does not share this affinity. Further, he is not a plausible candidate for president. He is simply an embarrassment.

He is in many ways the ultimate RINO. He does not at all represent Republican ideas or traditions, and is only in the GOP out of personal convenience. As the standard-bearer of the Libertarian Party, he only rejoined the GOP after helping lead his own party over a cliff. If he were allowed to become the standard-bearer of the Republican Party or the conservative movement, he would lead them over a cliff as well. The nation may well not be able to survive a Ron Paul presidency. In many ways, his behavior makes Obama look like a model of leadership and common sense.

It is time for conservatives to purge this man from their midst and stop pretending that they have anything in common with him.

  1. OK, so how are we going to pay for all this foreign intervention, which amounts to $1 Trillion a year, when all entitlement spending matches it and we have only 2.1 Trillion a year in Federal taxation. On top of the that, we have the massive domestic agendas in Federal law enforcement which conservatives also seem to be very supportive of.

We cannot afford to continue our foreign policy, it’s as simple as that. Believe me, I don’t want any country to have nuclear weapons. But we have let Pakistan, China, and North Korea get them under Bush, all of them equally as dangerous as Iran.

What do you propose we do? We are engaged in six kinetic military actions, not to mention all the foreign aid that we send to the various nations to be our friends. Something has to give on all forms of spending, not just entitlement and the other various domestic projects.

Also, these offensive actions without Congressional consent via a formal declaration of war are unconstitutional and an affront to the Founder’s intention.

Lastly, Mark Levin is a hack when it comes to foreign policy. He challenged anyone to debate him on Presidential War Powers. Thomas Woods answered and he refused to debate him (http://www.tomwoods.com/blog/mark-levin-wrong-on-war-powers/). He does not hold any rational positions on this matter and I wouldn’t appeal to his authority on this.

I do not agree with all of Mark Levin’s positions, but in this case, I thought he articulated things well. Ron Paul is simply a lunatic, and his positions–particularly regarding foreign policy–are those of a lunatic. He and his positions should no longer be treated as legitimate in conservative/Republican circles. No response is needed to them–they should simply be ignored.

I have only one question….why should I listen to Mark Levin who thinks he is so smart but only sounds like a person who likes to hear his own voice. And to throw in something else, why does he not believe in freedom of speech? If you try and post anything he does not like on his Facebook, he has the posts deleted. HYPOCRITE!

  7. Nice video, but when do we get to the part where Richard Dreyfuss there starts making a mountain out of mashed potatoes?

To whom it may concern, this is my blog. I get the last word here. I decide what comments get posted, and I need give no reason why some comments are deleted or go unresponded to. Write on your own blog if all you have to offer is puerile abuse and infantile insults.
