A Map of the 124 United States of America That Could Have Been

This map, created by Andrew Shears, shows what the US would look like if every attempt to secede from a state had been successful. The US would now have 124 states.

map of 124 United States While Shears makes it clear that this is not a proposal, but an exercise in alternative history, we find ourselves kind of partial to this map. Who who doesn’t like the thought of California being broken up into 4 separate states? And Forgottonia, Little Egypt, Reagan, Nickajack, and Yazoo are all places we’d like to visit, if they existed.
