Photo Of The Day: Kagura-Dono, Japan

kagura-donoA kagura-dono (or kagura-den) is a stage within a Shinto shrine which is used for both entertainment and religious purposes. Noh plays and kagura dances are performed here, along with Shinto weddings.

Although as a Christian I am not a fan of Shintoism, from an architectural and aesthetic viewpoint I enjoy the structure and its surroundings.
