Iranian Young People Arrested For Dancing To “Happy”

Six Iranian young people got together to make a video showing themselves in Tehran dancing to Pharrell’s song “Happy”. According to Neda, one of the stars of the video, they wanted to show that Iran’s young people “have moments of joy and happiness even though they live with many difficulties.”

It appears that these young people were deceived. According to Iranian authorities, young people are not allowed to have moments of joy and happiness in the Islamic republic, they are only officially allowed to have difficulties. After the video went viral, the group was arrested and forced to repent on state TV for publishing “a vulgar clip which hurt public chastity.”

Here is the video. You can judge for yourself if it is vulgar or if in any way your chastity was hurt by watching it.
